swim shirts, floaties, a kick board, goggles: Can you say over-protective mother?
I thought I would share a few pics from our vacation. We love the beach. It is one of our favorite places to go as a family. We’ve been coming to San Diego since we moved to California about 7 years ago. So now the kids refer to San Diego as “our beach.” We actually stay and play on the bay side. We watch the sail boats. We don’t have to worry about other people since there is usually no one else playing on the bay side. It is quiet and wonderful … just what we are looking for on vacation!
Where is the place that you are most able to unplug and relax from the pressures of life and leadership?

You can connect with Brandi via
beach for us too! or a really great resort that has a pool designed especially for kids.
The “Happiest Place on Earth” (aka Disney) is where I like to go to get away from the pressures of reality. San Diego was always a good place too. It’s actually where we honeymooned. Walking around Seaport Village or going to Cabrillo National Monument (at the tip of Point Loma) are a couple more of my happy places. Also, a nice hot tub over looking the majestic mountions of Zion is a good spot to unwind.
Most people think we are insane (with the exceptions of the Homa Family!) but we love Disneyland too. But our favorite spot to just get away from the rest of the world is our cabin in the mountains of Utah….no cell phone service…no e-mail……we have a blast without the pressure of the rest of the world- one of the best investments we have ever made (along with our passes to Disney!)
I love Disneyland … but I can’t relax there. It is fun, and I enjoy it – but relaxing? not for me. I’m impressed that you can relax in the midst of entertaining kids in long lines. Maybe when my kids are a bit bigger.
The key to relaxing at Disney is picking the right time of year (and even day of the week) to go. There have been many times when we’ve been at the end of a ride and the Disney cast member has asked us if we’d like to stay on the ride because there was no one in line. We did Big Thunder three times in a row before someone got in the line! Another time we had done every single ride at Disney by noon because no one was there. We were wondering what to do next. When you go during times like that it really spoils you.
Oh my word, Angie. We’ve been there during some slow down times but never that slow. What is the key? What’s the best time of year to go?
my very, very, very favorite is to be on a cruise ship out in the middle of the ocean. But…since I can’t do that as often as I would like…my next thing would be camping up in the mountians. I love it and haven’t gotten to do that much recently either.
The trick is going on a Tuesday/Wednesday and going right after school starts ( like mid Sept/early Oct) or right after every one goes back to school from Christmas break (mid-Jan).
The beach for me too! But when I can’t get away for a vacation, my room works out nicely! No one really ever goes in there, as my family members are very respectful, so I like to read and sleep peacefully away from all the noise of the day/week of being around “church people.” It’s good to have a balance in every area of your life. So I take down time quite a bit!
Anyone else like this?
I love just having quite moments with God too so I know exactly where I’m at in my relationship with Him. It’s healthier that way. I need to have time with Him.. me and Him!
