We’ve Still Got It?

My friend Jen Foster, wife of this guy, and I took our kids down to Belmont Park to have lunch and ride the rides while we were in San Diego. I love hanging out with Jen. She is cool, our kids totally love each other, and our husbands are very much alike. The Fosters are kind of our traveling buddies. We have come to San Diego with them many times over the years. We went with them to New York to attend the Q Conference. And several years ago we went on what might be the lamest cruise. They are great.

So, Jen, the kids and I were eating at this Mexican food restaurant. There were only tables with 4 seats, so we sat the kids at a table directly behind us. The kids were doing their usual … Jen’s quiet kids acting perfectly, and my Ethan raising the roof.

We were just starting to eat when Jen noticed two surfer guys a few tables away. She said, “Those guys keep staring at us.” After a few comments from me about how “we’ve still got it,” and after two kids how lucky our husbands are, we were feeling pretty good about ourselves.

That is when those guys finished eating and headed over. Jen said, “Oh no, they are coming over here.” Surfer guy stopped right next to Ethan (directly behind me) and said, “You have the best laugh buddy. You hang onto that.” And then he walked off.

Oh crap!  We don’t have it!  We are now if the phase of life where we just have cute kids. Depressing … and funny. Anyway, I got a great laugh out of it!

What is your greatest asset? (Obviously mine is a loud laughing four year old)

My greatest asset? Oh brother, well you mean when I’ve had my coffee, right? ;)
I think my greatest asset would have to be my surroundings. My wonderful husband, my church family, my immediate family, my friends… they are what keep me afloat…okay, I have to give credit to my little dog Lola too… she can always find a way to drive me nuts and make me love her tremendously at the SAME time! Most importantly, God keeps me afloat. And it’s ALWAYS in the little things. No matter HOW bad and draining my day is, God throws a piece of hope in it to make me smile. :)
