Cue Will Smith music … I’m going to Miami. In a couple of weeks, on Labor Day in fact, I’m heading to Miami. I’ve never been there, so I’m excited about that. But the reason I’m going has me even more excited.
I’m getting to attend a little Senior Pastor’s wives round table type conference. Lisa Young, wife of Ed Young, is hosting. I think there will be about 15 women. So, of course I am looking forward to meeting other pastor’s wives and learn from them. I’m going to do my best to blog from there and share the great insights that I’m sure to pick up. And of course I’ll post my new Henna tattoo, if Donna and I are able to find a place.
One of the things they asked us to come with were questions that we have about life and ministry. Oh, I’ve got plenty of those. But it got me wondering … if given the opportunity, what would you ask about life and ministry? What questions rattle around your brain, that you would love to get some feedback on?

Hi! I think your trip to Miami will be so great. Donna was telling me all about it. My husband is on staff at HCC and Donna and Judy pointed me to your blog. It’s really great. You have so much insight and creativity. Before we came on staff at HCC my husband was a high school pastor at FC in Grapevine. So, Donna and Lisa are the two pastor’s wives I’ve been under, am I a blessed girl or what?!
Nice to meet you. I look forward to your posts from Miami!
sounds like a blast! can’t wait to read your blogs while on the trip! i’m sure you’ll have some amazing insight. have fun.
We love Ed Young in our house. In fact, quite often we will watch him on TV before we go to our own church. What a great opportunity and experience for you, Lori!
Ok – thanks so much for the well wishes everyone. I really appreciate it. But I need questions, people! My plan is to go, drive everyone crazy, and ask as many questions as I can. So load me up with questions. Surely I’m not the only one that wonder about how other people deal with things in leadership and in ministry.
Gee, I want to go (especially if I get to see Miami). My daughter loved it. I could really use insight in how to be deal with the leadership stuff. Not sure I am ready for being a senior pastors wife (whenever that happens). Just the thought of it makes my stomach do circles. How do you mantain “you” in all of the stuff that comes with that title? Why is it so hard for other wives/women to get along and help build each other up rather then tearing down? How do you know when God is calling you to be more then just the woman on the sideline? How do you know when to back off? What is the best way to supprt your husband (besides prayer)? How do you deal with “church folk” ? Think I asked enough questions (lol)?
Last one (I promise…lol). How do you mentor to women when you feel so lost yourself?
Here’s my questions….
How do you find that “inner circle” that you feel you can trust and love you for you..not just love you for who you are and what you can “give” to them?
I think before you go, you should do a total Miami Vice make over…you know the 80’s style is coming back!
Lori, this is awesome, what an opportunity! I would ask…..who mentors you? Who do all these woman having mentoring them? It is so hard for me to find someone to build into me in the areas of ministry and leadership. I have several wonderful friends that are walking along side me, but no one really ahead of me.
Can’t wait to read the updates, take some photos to post.
Lori, we WILL find a henna tattoo place!
Girls, what great questions! What else?
These are GREAT questions. I will definitely be asking them. I will let you know what I find out!
I always wonder about relationships, kids in ministry, conflict, who do you talk to, who pours into you, and tons of other things.
Should be fun!
If you think of more, please share.
